Charles Hawkmoon

Charles Hawkmoon is the pen name of a Brazilian author of science fiction and fantasy, awarded twice with the prestigious Wattys Awards: Children of the Abyss (2015) and The Unwanted Glasses of Ilya Gregorvich (2019). His pseudonym pays tribute to one of his greatest literary influences: the iconic character created by Michael Moorcock.

With more than a dozen books and comic books published in Brazil, Hawkmoon has contributed short stories to several respected Brazilian magazines devoted to speculative fiction.

His original superhero, Coffeman, is currently being adapted into a comic book series and a screen production.

He resides in Belo Horizonte with his family and four cats and is perpetually immersed in writing long fantasy sagas—most notably Chronicles of the Bridge World, which already includes six published novels and more underway.

Read the webcomic, Keel, the Demonslayer, set in the Bridge World.

When the muse takes a different turn, Hawkmoon enjoys drawing, painting, and crafting flash fiction inspired by random words and surreal ideas. These strange and imaginative works form part of his ongoing anthology projects: Science Fiction Storm and Fantasy Storm.

Born in São Paulo, he holds a degree in Computer Science and also studied Fine Arts. In addition to writing speculative fiction, his hobbies include painting, sketching, roleplaying games, language learning, and exploring music.
